2026 Weekend Yoga Retreat at Siddhayatan: A Journey Into Yogic Living, Community, and Inner Transformation
Overview
The Weekend Yoga Retreat brought together students and practitioners from all educational tracks, Youth Yoga Teacher Training (YYTT), Yoga Teacher Training (YTT), and the Diploma in Yoga Therapy (DYT), for a deeply immersive experience in yogic living. Over three enriching days, participants explored meditation, asana, pranayama, kriyas, chanting, cultural expression, and reflective learning. The retreat created a nurturing atmosphere that supported physical vitality, mental clarity, emotional balance, and spiritual growth.

Friday Evening: Arrival & Opening Sessions
Check-In & Orientation
Participants arrived on Friday evening, settled into their accommodations, and were welcomed into the serene retreat environment. The Orientation session, led by Savita Joshi, Executive Director of Yoga Bharati, Dallas Chapter, set the tone for the weekend. Introductions among participants, volunteers, and staff helped establish a warm sense of community from the very beginning.
Keynote Address
The retreat officially opened with an insightful keynote by Dr. Sejal, who spoke about the rising mental health challenges in the post‑COVID era. She highlighted Yoga as a powerful, accessible tool for cultivating resilience, awareness, and emotional well‑being, especially for the Youth of this day and age.
Evening Activities
Dinner: A wholesome pasta-and-salad meal nourished participants after their travels.
Trataka Practice: A very meditative, calming practice which brings the concepts of Dharana, Dhyana, and Samadi into an experiential fold. An apt practice for the night.

Saturday: A Day of Deep Practice, Learning & Celebration
Morning Practices
The day began with a sequence of energizing and centering practices:
Meditation with OM Chanting led by Savita
Adult Yoga Session led by Savita
YYTT Youth Peer Teaching went on in parallel.
Advanced Yoga Session led by Savita with support from volunteer teachers Dinesh, Ved, and Sharat
Participants practiced advanced postures—including Headstand, Bakasana, Agnisara kriya and Nauli kriya, Shoulder Stand, and Halasana—under careful guidance by the volunteer teachers.
Breakfast & Scenic Hike
After a continental breakfast, participants explored the Siddhayathan Tirth, enjoying a peaceful hike through its sacred spaces in the gentle morning sun. Acharya ji blessed the group with his presence and shared the inspiring story of how the Tirth came to be—a dream realized after eight years of dedicated effort.
Advanced Pranayama
Savita led an in‑depth Advanced Pranayama session, helping participants deepen their understanding of breath, energy flow, and inner awareness.
Sound Bath Experience
A serene Sound Bath by Tida offered a meditative immersion into vibration and sound healing, leaving participants refreshed and introspective.
Satvic Lunch
A delicious sattvic sumptuous meal was served, featuring:
Palak paneer, Fresh vegetable salad, Roti and rice, Boondi raita, Spicy pickle

The afternoon was filled with learning, creativity, and friendly competition:

The YTT Team was declared the winners. A light snack break offered time for rest and informal bonding.
Khel Time
Outdoor group games led by Sharat brought laughter, teamwork, and joyful energy to the afternoon.
Spring Fest Celebrations
In harmony with the Spring Equinox, the evening blossomed with vibrant performances:

A creative skit on the Pancha Koshas by YYTT youth
A graceful Devi Shakti YoFlow finale by the ladies’ group
Blessings and certificate distribution by Acharya ji, along with PYS books for competition winners
More parents and guests joined the festivities, adding warmth and community spirit.
Evening Wind Down
A sattvic dinner prepared participants for the next morning’s kriyas
MSRT (Mind Sound Resonance Technique) led by Rupa, offered deep relaxation
The day closed with a shared sense of fulfillment and joy.
Sunday: Kriyas, Reflection & Closing

Savita and Hima demonstrated the cleansing kriyas, after which participants performed them in small, guided groups.
Relaxation & Breakfast
A soothing DRT session led by Sheela helped participants integrate the kriya experience. Breakfast included comforting khichadi along with continental options.
Feedback Session
Participants shared heartfelt reflections, expressing gratitude, renewed energy, and appreciation for the transformative retreat. Many voiced their desire to volunteer with Yoga Bharati and highlighted how the retreat embodied all four paths of Yoga in a truly rejuvenating way.
Concluding Talk by Acharya ji: Essence of Tantra
Acharya ji delivered a profound closing discourse on Tantra, explaining that it originated from a question Parvati posed to Shiva. His central message—“Stay in the middle; let the breath flow naturally”—captured the essence of Tantra as a path of inner stillness. He also shared a practical insight: even a sneeze can momentarily clear inner blocks and draw awareness inward.
Closing
After lunch, participants exchanged warm farewells, carrying home renewed clarity, inspiration, and a strengthened commitment to yogic living.
