The Diploma in Yoga Therapy (DYT) is an extensive course covering yoga, its therapeutic applications, and the philosophy from ancient scriptures such as the Upanishads, Bhagavad Gita, and Patanjali Yoga Sutras.

This program prepares you to become an experienced yoga therapist who can address various disorders in private practice, institutions, or business settings. Alternatively, you can lead yoga therapy independently in hospitals or healthcare centers as a senior yoga therapist. This comprehensive and fulfilling course is designed to accommodate busy individuals wanting to deepen their yoga practice, and teaching, and to heal themselves before healing others.

Module 1 - Advanced Yoga Foundation - 152 hours

  • Pancha Kosha Framework: Delve into the five layers of the self (Annamaya, Pranamaya, Manomaya, Vijnanamaya, Anandamaya) to deepen personal and teaching practices.

  • Understanding Stress: Analyze the manifestations of stress from both Western and Eastern perspectives, enhancing your ability to address it in practice.

  • Developing Sadhana: Cultivate a personal practice that enriches your teaching and allows students to explore deeper levels of sadhana.

Module 2 - Yoga Principles for Wellness and Healing - 176 Hours

  • Comprehensive Anatomy & Physiology: In-depth understanding of human anatomy, physiology and kinesiology (anatomy of movement), in relation to yoga practice in a wellness setting.

  • Psychology Insights: Examine both Eastern and Western psychology and their integration with yogic perspectives.

  • Complementary Healing Modalities: Discover the principles of Ayurveda and Naturopathy, integrating these ancient healing systems with yoga practices.

  • Yoga Philosophy Foundations: Learn the in-depth concepts from Yoga Sutras of Patanjali, Hatha Yoga Pradipika, Yoga Vasishta, and Bhagavad Gita.

Module 3 - Clinical Training Yogic management of Chronic ailments, 210 hours

Module 4 - Elective and Enrichment Module - Workshops and Retreats

Module 5 - Clinical Internship

a. Internship at YB Therapy Centers

  • Mentor Guidance: Deliver yoga therapy sessions under the supervision of an experienced mentor for personalized learning.

  • Yogic Coaching: Engage in Yogic Coaching within the framework of health and an integrated approach to Yoga.

  • Therapy Meetings: Participate actively in yoga therapy meetings to discuss cases, share insights, and enhance collaborative learning.

  • Workshop Preparations: Assist in preparing workshops, gaining experience in curriculum development and event organization.

  • Complete Lifecycle Involvement: Be actively involved in all stages of the yoga therapy process, including health assessment, follow-up health assessment, session delivery, and independent session delivery (under mentorship).

b. Internship at SVYASA, Bangalore

(Not for Yoga Therapy Foundation Course students)

  • The student is recommended to attend an internship program of a week or two at SVYASA University in Bengaluru, India.

  • Sessions include yoga classes, visiting various yoga departments, and following the case studies in Arogyadhama., the Health Center of SVYASA University.

Duration: Jan - May 2026

Details: Saturdays - 10 am PST - 1.00 pm PST (1 pm - 4.00 pm EST) - 30 hours of scheduled weekly yoga therapy group sessions and additional 30 hours of group and individual mentorship
