30 hour-Yoga Therapy for Musculoskeletal Disorders by Dr. Saravanan Chockalingam (DPT, C-IAYT)

This 30 hour continued education course involves learning techniques for client assessment intake and customizing the yoga therapy for chronic ailment of Musculoskeletal System; including back pain, neck pain, knee pain, and arthritis; 

Course Description

Students will learn:

  1. The Integrated Approach of Yoga Therapy for Musculoskeletal Disorders; 

    This section includes a framework of health and disease, such as back pain, neck pain, knee pain, and Arthritis; polyvagal theory as it relates to stress.

  2. Trends in research on Yoga therapy for Musculoskeletal Disorders 

    Learn about the role of yoga in managing pain and improving mobility in chronic MSDs. 

  3. Concepts of Applied Anatomy and Physiology

    This includes learning the structure (bones, muscles, tendons, ligaments) and systems (muscular, nervous, circulatory) of the body.  

  4. Concepts of client health assessment and analysis case studies

    Students will study numerous case studies, and learn how to tailor simple and customizable practices from their planned therapeutic interventions. That produces maximum benefits for the chronic ailment of the Musculoskeletal System.

  5. Model of healing through the Five Koshas Model

    This approach integrates the Five Koshas Model, which views the human being as composed of five interconnected layers (physical, energetic, mental, intellectual, and spiritual). It offers a comprehensive framework for healing by addressing each layer of the self

  6. Four streams of yoga- Karma Yoga, Jnana Yoga, Bhakti Yoga, Raja Yoga

    Students become skillful at translating deep scientific knowledge and ancient wisdom into practical therapeutic yoga applications within wellness settings.

  7. Tools and techniques for yogic management of musculoskeletal disorders

    Techniques include a combination of asanas(postures), pranayama(breath-work), meditation techniques, and relaxation techniques to address people with different temperaments and cultures.
