Yoga Bharati offers Advanced Yoga Teacher Training and Diploma in Yoga Therapy (DYT), an extensive course in yoga and its therapeutic applications, along with in-depth yoga philosophy from the ancient scriptures of Upanishad, Bhagavad Gita and Patanjali Yoga Sutras. We are affiliated to Vivekananda Yoga Research Foundation (VYASA), Bangalore, a premier Yoga University in India that has conducted research on yoga and its application to various ailments such as Diabetes, Hypertension, Backpain, Asthma, Cancer, etc. SVYASA has published more than 500 research papers and these are peer reviewed, published in various international journals. This exhaustive and fulfilling course is provided and made easy for the busy working people.
This course is offered as modules. You can sign up for individual modules or the entire program. The yoga therapy program helps you become an experienced yoga therapist who offers yoga to address various disorders in private practice, in an institution, or in a business setup. Alternatively, one could work as a yoga therapist in hospital or other clinical settings.

Module 1 - Advanced Yoga Foundation - 152 hours
A course on Yoga Tools and Techniques, Concepts, and Philosophy, an Integrated approach of Yoga Theory that includes Pancha Kosha (Panchamaya Kosha), Four streams of yoga — Raja yoga, Karma yoga, Jnana yoga, and Bhakti yoga, stress and its manifestations from the western and eastern perspectives. This course builds sadhana (practice) for the yoga teachers as a self-practice as well as to take their students to the depth of sadhana.

Details: Every Saturday 7am - 1pm PST (some holidays)- 72 hours classroom hours + 80 hours of of additional training using audio, video, and reading materials. Assignments and quiz on a regular basis makes the program effective and engaging.

Module 2 - Yoga Principles for Wellness and Healing - 176 Hours
Anatomy and Physiology, Complementary and Alternative healing modalities such as Ayurveda and Naturopathy, Psychology - Eastern and Western, & Yoga Philosophy will be covered extensively. This course prepares the yoga teachers with in-depth knowledge of anatomy, physiology, applied kinesiology (anatomy of movement), western psycholgy from yogic perspective and applying it into one’s life; concepts from yoga sutras of Patanjali, Hatha Yoga Pradipika, Yoga Vasishta, and Bhagavad Gita among other texts.
Module 2 starts Jan 11, 2025 (prerequisite module 1)
Duration: Jan 11 - May 31 2025*

Details: Every Saturday 7am - 1pm PST - 110 hours classroom hours + 66 hours of of additional training using audio, video, and reading materials. Assignments and quiz on a regular basis makes the program effective and engaging.

Module 3 - Clinical Training, Yoga and Psychology, Yogic management of Chronic ailments
This module will be taught by senior yoga therapists, including doctors, physical therapists, and psychologists with yoga backgrounds. Yoga for pain conditions, diabetes and metabolic disorders, asthma and allergies, neurological conditions, reproductive conditions, cancer, mental health, and other ailments, as well as their yogic management, will be covered extensively along with case studies. Students will also learn to understand the nuances of health intake, the scope of yoga therapy practice, ethics, boundaries, and research methodologies (literature review).

Module 4 - Elective and Enrichment Module - Workshops and Retreats
Yoga Bharati offers additional hours of education in the field of yoga, Vedanta, and Ayurveda as courses in some course well defined categories required to be taken by the students after Module 1 (some workshops and retreats can be taken in parallel with Module 1, after the part 1 of Module 1. This will be announced during the course). Ask us for the handbook for details.
Module 5 - Clinical Internship
a. Internship at YB Therapy Centers
Duration: Jan - May 2026
Details: Saturdays - 10am PST - 1.00pm PST (1pm - 4.00pm EST) - 30 hours of scheduled weekly yoga therapy group sessiona and additional 30 hours of group and individual mentorship
The internship involves yoga therapy session delivery under guidance of a mentor. Students are required do the overall case handling - Protocol development, Documentation, Corrective measures, Pre and Post Health Analysis, Yogic Coaching on Framework of Health and Integrated Approach of Yoga, and Corrections. Yoga Therapy meetings, workshop preparations, and involvement in the complete lifecycle of yoga therapy is a must.

b. Internship at SVYASA, Bangalore
(Not for Yoga Therapy Foundation Course students)
The student is recommended to attend an internship program at SVYASA University in Bangalore. We ask you to attend a week or two weeks internship at Swami Vivekananda Yoga Research Foundation in Bangalore, India. Sessions include yoga classes, visiting various yoga departments, and following the case studies in Arogyadhama., the health center of SVYASA University.
Examination Practicum Delivery, Dissertation, and Case Presentation
(Not for Yoga Therapy Foundation Course students)
This is the module where students will be requested to conduct yoga therapy sessions independently. Students are required to do the overall case handling - Protocol developed, Documentation, Corrective measures, Pre and Post Health Analysis, Yogic Coaching on Yogic Coaching on Framework of Health and Integrated Approach of Yoga.
Oral Examination and Interview - Exams after submission of the dissertation
Certificate/Accreditation
Certificate from Yoga Bharati (eligible for C-IAYT). You can use this to apply with the International Association of Yoga Therapists to become IAYT Certified Yoga Therapist. There will be additional examination from IAYT. Ask us about additional VYASA certificate for PGDYT.
Pre-requisites:
YIC/YTT (Yoga Instructors Course or Yoga Teachers Training) from Yoga Bharati (RYT-200 or equivalent)
Or Yoga Teacher Training from any other school with a minimum of 200 hours of training. We expect students to take our bridge course. Ask us for details.
And one year of personal practice and teaching experience with a minimum of 65 hours of teaching.

Approx 2-4 years. Modules 2 onwards is self-paced based on the calendar of workshops shared by the Yoga Bharati education dept.

What can I do after completing this course?
One can choose to establish one’s career as a Yoga Therapist for psychosomatic ailments, or one can simply use this knowledge and experience to help one’s own health and spiritual growth, or help the community. It is a self-transforming experience. Healing others heals you.
What is the duration of the course?
Mandatory classroom hours are held online or in some parts of the US. All the assignments and tests are to be submitted at your pace, which will then be assessed and evaluated by the faculty for grading purposes. Upon completion of all the requirements, a certificate will be issued from VYASA, and a certificate from Yoga Bharati that is eligible for International Association of Yoga Therapists certified Yoga Therapist. An average working individual should give himself/herself 3-4 years to complete the course, depending on one’s commitment and dedication.
