Anil Surpur is one of the founding members and currently the President of Yoga Bharati, Senior Faculty and Yoga Teacher. Anil completed his Bachelor in Electronic Engineering from India (Karnataka) and has a MBA from All India Management Association (AIMA). He has undergone BKS Iyyengar yoga training, Chennai in 1986 and has been practicing Yoga since then. He has completed Yoga teachers training in 2003 and is a registered experienced Yoga Teacher (ERYT500, YACEP) with Yoga Alliance (YA). Ashwini Surpur, Executive Director
Ashwini Surpur, BS (CS), MA(Sanskrit), ERYT, CIAYT is the Executive Director of Yoga Bharati. She has worked at Oracle as a Software Engineer for 15 years and quit her job in 2010 to join Yoga Bharati as a full time volunteer staff. She has spoken at various conferences on yoga and Hindu philosophy. She writes articles for various magazines and news media on Yoga. She is passionate about literature and philosophy, and has a MA in Sanskrit. She is studies and writes on Veerashaiva philosophy. She also writes stories, articles, and composes poems. She teaches Bhagavad Gita for children and adults.
Savita Joshi, Director of Yoga Therapy and the Treasurer
Savita Joshi, MBA (Finance), E-RYT, is the Director of Yoga Therapy Services and also the Treasurer at Yoga Bharati. She has a Diploma in Yoga Therapy from Vivekananda Yoga University (SVYASA), Bangalore, India. She is a Director of Therapy Services at Yoga Bharati. Savita teaches yoga therapy for more than eight years with an emphasis on supporting women through prenatal and postnatal yoga, fertility, and other psychosomatic disorders at Yoga Bharati. Savita is on the faculty for Yoga Therapy Training at Yoga Bharati. She also guides yoga therapy students in training. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering from India and Master’s degree in Business Administration from Cal state Hayward University. She has spoken at various retreats and conferences on the topic of yoga.
Reshma Amin is the Secretary of Yoga Bharati Bay Area chapter. She has been a yoga teacher since 2004 and has completed her Yoga Therapy Certification from SVYASA University Bangalore India in 2005. Since then, she has taught various yoga classes for adults, kids and prenatal groups at Yoga Bharati. She has also conducted numerous yoga for back pain workshops and prenatal therapy workshops and presently practices yoga therapy for clients at Yoga Bharati. She also manages overall activities of Yoga Bharati Bay Area chapter.
Bina Desai, Asst. Director of Yoga Services, Fremont
Bina Desai, ERYT, is the Asst. Director of Yoga Services, Fremont. After receiving her teacher's training and diploma in yoga therapy from Yoga Bharati, Bina has been managing and teaching yoga therapy at Yoga Bharati Fremont center. She has taught at various institutions such as the India Community Center, Fremont temple, and Fremont high schools. She is a faculty member of Yoga Teacher Training course and yoga therapy course. Bina holds a Bachelor degree in Commerce. Prior to her yoga career, Bina worked in the accounting field for different companies in the Bay Area. Her passion is to learn every aspect of yoga. She loves to play with her grand child in her free time.
Shailesh Basani, Asst. Director of Yoga Services, Milpitas
Shailesh Basani, MS, ERYT is the Asst. Director of Yoga Services, Milpitas. He has been a yoga practitioner for more than twenty years. He holds an official certification in yoga and yoga therapy from Vivekananda Yoga University (VYASA) and Yoga Alliance. As an active Yoga Bharati volunteer, he teaches public yoga classes (ICC, Milpitas library etc), yoga therapy sessions and kids yoga classes in the Milpitas area. He is the faculty member of yoga teacher training and yoga therapy teacher training programs. Shailesh holds a B.Tech in Computer Science and Engineering from NIT, Warangal and M.S. in Engineering Management from Santa Clara University. He currently works as Director of Engineering in Adobe Systems.
Rima Shah, Yoga Services Administrator
Rima is the Yoga Services Administrator at Yoga Bharati. She has had physical therapy education in India and is the yoga teacher with therapeutic training in yoga. Apart from coordinating and administering yoga services, she conducts prenatal classes, wellness classes, and yoga therapy sessions. She believes that yoga has had a very positive influence not only on her but also on her entire family as well. Her son Arnav, enjoys the Yoga Bharati community and the Yoga classes over the summer. She looks forward for many more years of Yoga fulfillment in her life.
Vinutha Kornaya, Faculty Member
Vinutha Kornaya holds a BSc and an MBA from Bangalore University and completed her Yoga Instructors Course at SVyasa University in 2003, but her true education began when she stepped on the mat as a fourteen year old girl. Yoga proved to have been life changing and it helped her stay grounded through the years.To maintain the innermost sense of peace has been her most challenging sadhana. Her hope is to share this ancient philosophy, science and art with as many aspirants as possible.
Shriram Sarvotham, Senior Faculty Member
Shriram Sarvotham, PhD, ERYT-500, has been practicing yoga since childhood; he received the Yoga Teacher Certification from Art of Living Foundation in 2001. He has conducted over 150 workshops and retreats on yoga, Bhagavad Gita and Patanjali Yoga Sutras all over USA at prestigious yoga conferences, educational institutions and corporate offices. Shriram is the recipient of the Exemplary Service Award given by the Consulate General of India in June 2015, and the Yoga Service Award given by ISKCON in September 2009. He works in the tech industry in Silicon Valley in California.
Chinmay Surpur, Education and Research Coordinator
Chinmay Surpur is Yoga Bharati's Education and Research Development Coordinator. Having recently graduated from the University of California, Santa Barbara with a Bachelors of Science Degree in Biopsychology with High Honors (Magna Cum Laude) with many other accolades, such as his own research paper publication, Chinmay is putting his academic intellectual prowess to work at Yoga Bharati. Chinmay has had an extensive background in yoga for his whole life, obtaining his Yoga Instructor's Certification in 2011. He has been involved with Yoga Bharati activities and teaching ever since. Chinmay's main focus is to combine the teachings of yoga philosophy, specifically that of Patanjali and the Bhagavat Gita, to heal people from an inner perspective, providing everyone with a stronger basis for their mental, physical, emotional, and spiritual health. Mona Shah, Yoga Wellness Instructor
Mona Shah, RYT, is Wellness Instructor. An avid practitioner for over 15 years, she completed her Teacher Training in 2012 and is now almost completing her Diploma in Yoga Therapy with Yoga Bharati. She enjoys teaching yoga classes with an emphasis on Yoga Therapy. Mona holds a BS, Biochemistry from the University of Illinois and a MS, Computer Science from DePaul University (Chicago).
Sushma Srivastava, Yoga Wellness Instructor
Sushma Srivastava, MS (Chemistry), is a yoga Instructor at Yoga Bharati. She is pursuing diploma in Yoga Therapy. She works full time as Scientist at Food Safety and Inspection Services of US Department of Agriculture (USDA). She is passionate about yoga, Ayurvedic knowledge and Spirituality and Philosophy. She has completed her certificate in Hindu Counseling Course from Hindu Community Institute. She volunteers for several NGO, like Yoga Bharati, All World Gayatri Pariwaar and Hindu Community Institute. She conducts yoga classes for community in Fremont area.
Latha Sreekumar, Yoga Instructor
Latha Sreekumar BTech(EE) MS (EE) PMP RYT(200) teaching Yoga for last 3 years. Yoga has been a part of Latha’s life for over 20 years. She is very passionate about learning more about different Yoga styles and Philosophy behind it. Latha’s approach to yoga remains ever focused on the balance between strength and flexibility, relaxation , and release. In addition, Latha believes in balanced diet and Ayurveda. Also she like to work with kids to help them learn new poses and relax in a fun way.
Indra Singhal, Yoga Wellness Instructor
Indra Singhal has been a yoga practitioner for over 13 years, he completed the Yogabharati YIC in 2013 and has been teaching free community classes since. Indra is persuing his post graduate diploma in Yoga Therapy, PGDYT, at Yogabharati. In his classes, Indra facilitates deeper mental involvement during each phase of the class. Indra has held engineering and marketing roles at AMD, SynOptics, and Bell Labs. Over the years, he has founded several startups and now holds advisory board positions. Indra has Bachelor's from Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur and a Masters from Penn State University.
Paddy Iyer, Outreach Coordinator
Paddy is currently working with Facebook, and has been helping out Yoga Bharati Sunnyvale team in terms class schedules, patrons, work with teachers and help out YB in terms of social media campaigns etc. He actively volunteers with several Bay area temples, and other cultural organizations. His avid interests include, carpentry, gardening/landscaping, and electronics.

Siddu Rati, RYT is the Outreach Coordinator at Yoga Bharati. He has been a yoga teacher since 2006. He coordinates yoga programs and Sevathon at Yoga Bharati. Besides yoga career, he works at Citrix as Program Manager.

Rekha Shivapa is the Outreach Coordinator of Yoga Bharati Rekha has volunteered for many non-profits in the Bay Area and has immense experience in Fund raising and event management. Ekaterina (Eka) Jeleva, Senior Faculty Member
EkaterinaJeleva, RYT-200, was passionately drawn to the practice of yoga since 2003. She traveled to India in pursuit of self discovery through yoga. She has studied yoga with the Art of living Foundation and received her yoga teaching certification in 2009. She teaches variety of yoga styles including Vinayasa krama yoga, holistic hatha yoga, vinyasa yoga, and sukshma yoga. Ekaterina is an ardent student of the Bhagavad Gita and Patanjali Yoga Sutras, from which she derives inspiration for her personal practice as well as her teaching. A Registered Nurse (RN) by profession, Ekaterina works for the Cardiac Center at Stanford Medical. She has organized yoga workshops for Doctors and nurses in medical facilities.
