Yoga Instructors/Foundation Course (YIC/YFC)

Yoga Instructors Course (YIC) is a yoga teachers training program that prepares the student to teach holistic yoga in the community. This course integrates the various aspects of yoga such as asanas, pranayama, kriyas, meditation techniques and the very essence of yogic literature along with philosophy into a holistic composite – thus enabling the student to understand and impart the knowledge of yoga in its entirety. Yoga Bharati conducts Yoga Teachers Training every year in the Bay Area from April to June.

Yoga Bharati is a Registered Yoga School with Yoga Alliance (RYS 200). After completing the course, one can sign up with Yoga Alliance to become RYT-200.YA_Logo

About YIC (also known as YICC)

YIC is a certificate program designed by Viveknananda Yoga Research Foundation VYASA (also known as SVYASA), which is a premier Yoga University in Bengaluru, India. Based on 25 years of in-depth study in the field of yoga and spirituality VYASA has published many research papers on yoga and its therapeutic applications. YFC

Yoga Foundation Course – includes Module 1 & 2 (Theory & Practice).

Does not include Project report and field practice. Participants get participation certificate if they need it.

Does not include YIC certificate.

YIC (RYT200)

Yoga Instructor Course – includes Module 1 (Theory & Practice) + Module 2 (Online Classes) and Module 3(Electives, Shadowing,  field practice and Project Report)

YIC Certificate from VYASA and Yoga Bharati Certificate with Yoga Alliance RYS 200 logo will be awarded upon completion of RYT 200 requirements (Module 1, 2, 3 and 4).

YIC for Youth (under 18 years of age)

We will give them all the training that adults get, but with special breakout sessions so yoga education is given to them at their level of understanding. We will mentor them through our special youth yoga teachers. We will enable them for yoga teaching by our special mentors. Please contact us for details.

Yoga Bharati offers Diploma in Yoga Therapy (DYT), Advanced Teacher Training (AYTT) and Yoga Therapy Foundation Course (TFC). These courses are extensive courses in yoga and its therapeutic applications along with a depth in yogat philosophy from the ancient scriptures of Upanishad, Bhagavad Gita and Patanjali Yoga Sutras. We are affiliated to Swami Vivekananda Yoga Research Foundation (SVYASA), Bangalore, a premier Yoga University in India that has conducted research on yoga and its application to various ailments such as Diabetes, Hypertension, Backpain, Asthma, Cancer, etc. SVYASA has published more than 100 research papers and these are peer reviewed, published in various international journals and can be found on pubmed (keywords to search ‘Vivekananda yoga’). This exhaustive and fulfilling course is provided and made easy for the busy working people. We have designed this course to be do-it-at-your-pace course although attending the classes is compulsory. Pre-requisite: YIC (Yoga Instructors Course or Yoga Teachers Training)

The online Information Session (OPEN HOUSE) was conducted on Tues, Jan 6th 9pm PST. Dr. Naveen was the special guest for the first half of the session. He presented the career aspect of Therapy Course. Shailesh presented the second half where he elaborated on the Course.

Sessions by Dr. Nagarathna, Raghuramji, Swami Bodhananda, Yoga Bharati Senior Yoga Therapists and other qualified staff from VYASA, Center for Spiritual Enlightenment (CSE) and other associated organizations. Apart from this, we will be conducting sessions on Pranayama, MSRT, Cyclic Meditation and PET, initially by senior students of Yoga Therapy and then we will be asking you to teach and we provide comments on teaching methodologies.

This is a self-paced Diploma in Yoga therapy brought to you in affiliation with VYASA, Bengaluru. The contact portion of the course will run over a 9 month period.  Including the self-paced workshops, retreats, field practice, shadowing etc.the course can take 2-3 years to complete. 1. DYT – Diploma in Yoga Therapy (IAYT Accreditation in planning) – 800 hour course

Goal: Experienced yoga teacher who leads yoga therapy and practice independently in hospitals or health care centers as senior yoga therapists.

Scope: Yoga therapy fundamentals – anatomy and physiology, common ailments, basic medical management and yogic management, case studies, best practices. Exposure to most of the necessary areas such as senior yoga, prenatal, kids, care giver stress, yogic counseling etc.

Modules: Six Modules Module 1- Intensive course on consecutive 6 weekends and weekday online classes Module 2: 6 months of 1 weekend a month workshops and weekday online classes Module 3 – Electives, Yoga Retreat, philosophy courses, etc. Module 4 – Practicum – shadowing and mentored teaching; Module 5 – Internship at VYASA, Bengaluru and optionally Integrative healing centers in Bangalore as approved by Yoga Bharati Module 6 – Field practice and project report – Dissertation covering 16 participants under 8 ailments showing their health parameters.

Goal:  Subset of the above without Indian center visit and lesser requirements on practice and case studies. Experienced yoga teacher who is specialized in certain field like prenatal, senior classes or assists yoga therapy classes under senior yoga therapists

Scope: Yoga therapy fundamentals – anatomy and physiology, common ailments, basic medical management and yogic management of some selected common NCDs, case studies, best practices. An option to specialize in some areas such as senior yoga, prenatal, kids, etc

Modules: Five Modules Module 1- Intensive course on consecutive 6 weekends and weekday online classes Module 2: 6 months of 1 weekend a month workshops and weekday online classes Module 3 – Electives, Yoga Retreat, philosophy courses, etc. Module 4 – Practicum – shadowing and mentored teaching; Module 5 – Field practice and project report. Dissertation covering 8 participants under 3-4 ailments or specialities like seniors, kids, prenatal etc and showing their health parameters.

Certificate/Accreditation: Certificate from Yoga Bharati with Yoga Alliance stamp (when we get it) Duration: Self paced after the contact hours; Approx 2-3 years.

FEES: $3000 for Module 1, 2, 4 and 5; Charges extra for Modules 3; installments available; free upgrade before the end of Module 1;

Yoga Therapy Foundation Course

Goal:  Experience yoga teacher who has yoga therapy background. Adds to RYT-200 and also for continued education units. One can start helping yoga therapy classes under senior yoga therapists

Scope: Yoga therapy fundamentals – anatomy and physiology, common ailments, basic medical management and yogic management of some selected common NCDs, case studies, best practices.

Modules: One Module Module 1- Intensive course on consecutive 6 weekends and weekday online classes

Certificate/Accreditation:Yoga Bharati Certificate of completion or continued education units towards RYT-200 / 500 (when we get granted) as needed.

FEES: $1500 for Module 1 – a 6 weeks course.

FAQ:

Prashanti Visit for DYT

  • You will be visiting Prashanti, VYASA’s health center in Bangalore for a minimum period of 14 days (two weeks) for clinical observation. This is the most valuable experience one gets in their therapy course. The staff of VYASA gives special attention and training for you.
  • You will prepare a dissertation of 16 yoga participants in 8 ailments after conducting a minimum of 2 months of yoga therapy for each of them and tracking their progress.
  • You will appear for a set of exams as administered by VYASA (YB exam center).
  • You will present the dissertation to VYASA faculty (over webcast or at Bangalore center).

Advanced Yoga Teacher Training Course: This course is designed towards a certification for RYT 500. This course will give you deeper concepts of yoga and yoga therapy and will put you in a path to signup for DYT if needed.

What is the duration of the course?

The course is a brought in affiliation with SVYASA, Bangalore. The course is a self paced course, but coming to the classes for contact hours is a must. Non-contact hours are done at your convenience and logged for our records. All the assignments and tests are to be submitted at your pace which will then be assessed and evaluated by the faculty for grading purposes. Upon completion of all the requirements, a certificate will be issued from VYASA and we are in the process of accreditation with International Association of Yoga Therapists. An average working individual should give himself/herself, 2-3 years to complete the course depending on one’s commitment and dedication.
